Whiteness Voe, Shetland is part of my Charcoal Landscapes Collection. It was created when I spent a wintry month on Shetland for an artist residency based in Scalloway. I took the rough-textured handmade paper with me on a last-minute whim and found that it seemed to embody the wintry hues of the hunks of charcoal I was working into the weave. The beauty and rawness of the landscape around Shetland captivated my senses and I fully intend to return there.
