Salty Breezes

Breathing in the salty breezes wafting round the headland, the land easing the tides hurtling through the Voe. Protected here in the marina, bobbing about in the winter sun. Could be worse ways to spend our days.

The Boats Collection

Salty Breezes is part of my Boats Collection which I started whilst painting in Shetland. There are lots of marinas and harbours in nooks around the islands full of colourful boats which look beautiful in the sunlight.

They're created using collage as a base layer and then painting in acrylic using a palette knife. The combination of the collage and palette knife painting forms an imaginative textured effect that draws your eye into all the nooks and crannies that the paint seems to have magically settled into.

Colourful and character-filled, Salty Breezes brings the atmosphere of these moored boats in a island marina to your home.
