Print: Moored Ladies

Nestled together under the chilly winter sky, these vessels gratefully snuggle up in the relative shelter of the marina. They heard the howling gales last night, fishing boats chugging into the harbour with sighs of relief to be within waters without waves that dwarf them. Dappled sunny rays on this morning's ripples give no actual warmth, but lift their mood and smiles start to spread amongst the moored ladies.

The Boats Collection

Moored Ladies is part of my is part of my Boats Collection which I started whilst painting in Shetland. There are lots of marinas in nooks around the islands full of colourful boats which look beautiful in the sunlight.

They're created using collage as a base layer and then painting in acrylic using a palette knife. The combination of the collage and palette knife painting forms an imaginative textured effect that draws your eye into all the nooks and crannies that the paint seems to have magically settled into.

Colourful and character-filled, Moored Ladies brings the atmosphere of these moored boats in an island marina to your home.
