Grown-up Blues

There are some lulls between the showers today and the sky has been breaking through the clouds. The sky that's revealed is a really piercing, raw blue underneath the many layers of sweeping cloud. In the summertime the blue is a much softer one (the classic 'sky blue' that so many pigments are named). Winter is here and it's as if the clouds are it's clothing and the sky is going through it's own sense of hibernation and renewal, reluctantly exposed when it least expects it - showing a glimpse of an icy deep blue. Less of the baby blue and more of the grown-up wiser one.
