Studio News w/e 17 July ‘26

It's been a sunny week here on Skye, and I've understandably been involved in quite a few of domestic outsidey things. Essentially, I have a jungle of a garden growing on a steep rock that's twice the height of my house. The structure was completely hidden when I first moved in. It's now into year four and I've made it (with occasional help from someone far more practically minded) up to around the height of the top of my roof. This year, I'm hoping to progress further, so let’s hope the actual scope and structure decides to reveal itself. Here's what a small section of it looks like so far (around the height of the start of my roof):

Inside the studio, a new painting has been started! I'm looking to develop a series on paper, and this is my first foray. The paper is as thick as I can procure, I just don't know if it's tough enough to withstand all the processes I ask of my surfaces that make my paintings decide to live. So, here's the collage building up, starting with my desk at it's tidiest:

Here's the collage evolvng:

The next steps are checking everything is stuck down and then painting - I'll show you the progress photos next week.

I also have a new item in my ArtOnEverythingShop on Etsy - meet the Wild Abandon-themed hardcover journal:

I have started a new module in the Willowing Arts A Year of Magic & Fairytales course too. My piece is in it's elementary stages, here are the base layers so far:

I've also visited The Treehouse in Lochcarron to see if I could maybe book a mini exhibition next month, and discuss mounting/framing my charcoal mountain drawings with Ross at Freedom Framery there too. More on those things next week...

Happy weekends all x
